What a clever series! By using symbols that children must find and explore, these books draw out significant links between Old Testament characters and Jesus. Perfect for parents and teachers who want to help their children understand God’s Big Story.

Writer-in-Residence, Tyndale House, Cambridge.

Jesus showed his followers in all the Old Testament “the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:27). The Old Testament comes into clear focus when we begin to see these wonderful things. Alison Mitchell draws children into this rich true way of reading the Old Testament. The books are fresh, lively, attractive, intriguing, and thought-provoking. Warmly recommended.

“A valuable addition to any home or children’s church library”

(Review written for 'Jesus Moments: Esther')

The story of Esther is a favorite in our home, so I was thrilled when The Good Book Company released it as the third book in the Jesus Moments series.

Written for ages 4-7, this interactive story engages young children and helps them to identify moments in Esther’s life that point towards the life of Jesus. It also seeks to help children understand the relationship between the Old and New Testaments and that the entire Bible is about Jesus.

Although this is an abridged version of the story of Esther, it remains true to the original text and would be a valuable addition to any home or children’s church library.

Thank you, @thegoodbookcompanyusa, for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

“A great series!”

(Review written for 'Jesus Moments: Esther')

I love this series! Each of these books connects Old Testament stories to Jesus with hidden images to find. The end of the book then tells where the hidden images were & what the connection is.

The connections made in "Jesus Moments: Esther" were a little less obvious than in the stories of David and Moses - which is understandable based on the subject matter. Nevertheless, I really appreciated the connections they did make.

Note: this one drops you in the story a bit in the middle of things. (I did actually think I missed a page when I first started reading.) Not a criticism, but just a heads-up that it might be helpful if your child has already heard the story of Esther. Or use this as an opportunity to jump into the Bible for additional reading!

“A Beautiful and Christ-Centered Look at Esther’s Story”

(Review written for 'Jesus Moments: Esther')

Jesus Moments: Esther is a wonderful addition to any family’s bookshelf, bringing the powerful story of Queen Esther to life while pointing young readers to Jesus. I love how this book not only tells the biblical account in an engaging and accessible way but also helps kids see how Esther’s story connects to the bigger picture of God’s plan for salvation.

The illustrations are vibrant, the storytelling is captivating, and most importantly, it encourages children to recognize God’s faithfulness in the midst of challenges. It’s a perfect resource for sparking meaningful conversations about courage, trust in God, and how He is always at work—even when we don’t see it.

I know this book will be a blessing in our home, and I can’t wait for my kids to experience more of the Jesus Moments series. If you’re looking for a Christ-centered way to introduce biblical stories to young hearts, this is a must-have!

“Wow! So many things to love about this book!”

(Review written for 'Jesus Moments: Esther')

When we first received this book, I was expecting a straight-forward telling of the story of Esther, but this is so much more than that!! Not only does it tell the story in an engaging manner that kids can understand, it also ties it all back to Jesus. I'm excited to use this book and others in the series to help teach my kids how to look for Jesus throughout the scriptures.

“Interactive, short, easy to read and exciting!”

(Review written for 'Jesus Moments: Esther')

Queen Esther is one of our favorite Bible Stories and this new addition to the Jesus Moments collection is fantastic! With beautiful depictions of Esther’s time in King Xerxes palace, this book covers the highlights of the Biblical account of Esther while comparing many of the moments in that story to the life of Jesus, the greatest Rescuer of all time.

This is a story of courage and of faith. My daughter (almost 7) adored this story as the wicked Haman hatches a plan to have all the Jewish people of the time killed. But, Queen Esther bravely approaches the King and reveals the vicious plan, thwarting Haman’s attempts and saving her cousin Mordecai and the Jewish people.

There are several parallels that this book connects for young readers, making the connection between Jesus’ story and that of Queen Esther in a simple, easy to understand way. It encourages children’s hearts and minds and draws deep illustrations that will stick with them.

The book is interactive, short, easy to read and exciting! It's appropriate for boys and girls, as well.

With vibrant, expressive illustrations, this book offers thick, durable pages and a solid hardcover. It comes highly recommended from our family to yours and would be great for any child’s library, including children’s ministry programs, in homeschool and private schools.

* I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts are my own and I was not required to write a positive review.

“Faithful and engaging retelling”

(Review written for 'Jesus Moments: Esther')

Even though The Jesus Moments series is not my favorite from The Good Book Company, I appreciate the overall concept. As you are reading, your little ones will be engaged as they search for hidden objects, signifying that they have found a Jesus moment. A Jesus moment is “when someone or something in the story is a little bit like Jesus.” At the end of the book, the Old Testament story is placed side-by-side with a moment in Jesus’ life.

While this book is faithful to the original text, I did find the layout of the story interesting. It drops you right into Haman being furious, skipping over the first couple chapters of Esther, which I think are crucial to understanding the overall story. It doesn’t mention that it was Haman’s idea on how to honor the man in whom the king delights, or that he built the gallows for Mordecai. At the same time, this version is short, making it easier to captivate younger audiences (ages 3-6). The illustrations are bold and colorful and give you a feel of the culture at that time.

The Jesus Moments series is worth checking out; it teaches kids that the entire Bible is about Jesus!

“Introduces children to a Christ-centered hermeneutics of the story of Esther!”

(Review written for 'Jesus Moments: Esther')

If you are farmilar with this series, there is now a new one to add to the collection! This book is the story of Esther. The story is first told and has scrolls hidden throughout on "Jesus Moments". Children get to engage with the story and find the scrolls while they listen to the story. At the end, the answers to where all the scrolls are hidden are given and the "Jesus Moments" are explained. Esther can be a confusing story to understand without the context of Jesus. This story shows how Jesus is foreshadowed in the story of Esther and help children make more sense of how it connects to the greater story of Jesus Christ.
Some examples from the book of "Jesus Moments" in Esther:

Haman is much like the powerful religious leaders that hated Jesus and who plotted to kill Jesus just like he plotted to kill Mordacai.

Esther risked her life for her people and she became queen of Persia for "such a time as this." ➡️ "Jesus was God the Son. He became a human being at just the right time so that he could give his life to save everyone who trusts in him."

This book is a great addition to this wonderful series that helps children make sense of the Old Testament stories in a Christ centered hermeneutics. I highly recommend!!

Thank you @thegoodbookcompanyusa for a copy of the book for my honest review!

“A fantastic book!”

(Review written for 'Jesus Moments: Esther')

"It was always God's good plan to send his Son to live in Earth, to die for our sins, and then to rise to life again. And God gave his people lots of clues about how this would happen."

💡I love how this book dives into some of the "clues" God gave us about the Savior.

Not only does the reader get the entire story of Esther and why Purim is still celebrated to this day, but we also are getting a picture of Jesus who was also born for a specific time and reason.

This is a lovely and well written book that stays true to scripture and encourages our kids to think more deeply.

Thank you, @thegoodbookcompanyusa, for this copy! (All thoughts are my own.)
