What a wonderful resource for teaching our children to pray! It is well-illustrated, teaches all about the Old Testament, and encourages various different kinds of prayer, from repentance to petition to thanksgiving to praise. What a gift to parents and all who care about spiritually nurturing the next generation!
I cannot think of anything more important for a child to know than the fact that God delights to hear their prayers – especially when those prayers are grounded in Scripture. This resource is going to help families and children learn that God loves it when we pray the truths in his word back to him.
Vibrant prayers are informed by God’s word and fueled by his promises. Using God’s Big Promises Bible Story Prayers with your children can help them get into the rhythm of responding to God’s word through prayer even before they can read. It’s never too early for children to learn to respond to God’s great and precious promises through prayer!
Simple but packed full of truth. A great resource to help build a strong foundation of Biblical literacy in children. A great way to help children learn to pray scripture and to see who God is in each story of the Bible.
Carl Laferton's Bible story prayers will help your child learn and say prayers connected to Bible stories that praise God, thank God, say I'm sorry, and ask for requests.
This important book is a great way to spend time with your kids worshiping God in prayer.
This book is a great resource and pairs perfectly with the God's Big Promises Bible! I love that it includes so many Bible stories from the Old and New Testament. The prayers are simple (which is perfect for young children) and relate back to scripture. I think this is a great resource to have in your home library!
This book of prayers for children goes with the “God’s Big Promises Bible Storybook,” and it's also great as an independent resource. The book contains 100 short, kid-friendly prayers, and the graphic design layout is colorful and appealing. Each page begins with a clear heading, such as "Jesus is Born," and then includes a brief summary of that Bible story. Then there's a Bible passage, and this appears next to a vignette from one of Jennifer Davison's illustrations from the Bible storybook. After this, there is a paragraph-length prayer, and it includes some words in bold and a different color font to highlight different aspects of prayer, such as praise, sorrow for sins, gratitude, and requests.
Carl Laferton wrote each prayer in a simple, engaging way that is suitable for young children, and the book shows kids how to talk to God, and how to pray in response to Scripture. The book also covers the entirety of redemptive history, from Genesis to Revelation, and teaches key concepts related to how God always keeps His promises. The prayers correspond to each of the Bible stories in the storybook, and there are some bedtime-themed prayers at the end. This book is great for families to use alongside the Bible storybook by the same author, and it also includes sufficient summaries of each Bible story to work as a standalone.
This is a great resource for people who are looking for a way to teach young children about prayer. This book expresses spiritual concepts in simple, accessible language, teaches kids about different things we talk to God about, and highlights how we can pray in response to God's revelation in Scripture. This is a great resource for family devotions and church settings, and the book is very nice quality and will hold up through many repeated uses. Overall, I'm very impressed with this book, and I would recommend it to families and churches.
I received a free copy from the publisher, and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
We really enjoy this one. It is a fantastic resource for guiding family Bible Time, and is a perfect accompaniment to the God's Big Promises Storybook Bible.
This book is precious and is filled with sweet prayers for children to pray. It is encouraging and easy to ready for the children.
My 5 year old daughter and I have been enjoying reading this prayer book alongside the God’s Big Promises Bible Storybook, as it matches up with all 92 stories, and teaches kids how to pray scripture. “Prayer is us speaking to God, and the Bible is God speaking to us. So it’s great to pray in response to what we hear in the Bible.”
There are four different types of prayers highlighted in each story: PRAISE, THANK YOU, SORRY, and PLEASE prayers. There is also an action you can do with it, whether it’s lifting your hands in praise, or clutching them to your heart to say sorry. Extra prayers are included for bedtime, as well as an index if you are looking for a specific type of prayer (when your child is feeling sad, angry, worried, tempted, etc.).
This book teaches kids that they can always turn to the One and Only God who listens to us, gives us what He knows we need, and (as revealed through scripture) has kept every promise He has ever made! This book has been a great way to end our day!

🙏🏼 You may be familiar with the “God’s Big Promises Bible Storybook” and this amazing resource is the latest in the series focusing on prayer. Pair it alongside the storybook to have a guided prayer after you read the full bible story or use it on its own.
👉🏼 The prayers are divided into Old Testament Prayers, New Testament Prayers plus 10 bonus bedtime prayers at the end of the book.
📖 Every page follows a format of a paragraph summary of the story, a bible verse and a prayer.
🤲 The prayers all contain one or more of the following to guide kids in their practice of prayer:
- Praise (Wow!)
- Thank You
- Sorry
- Please
👦🏼 These short devotional prayers are a perfect introduction to prayer for little ones and/or a great supplemental resource in addition to any bible storybook you read.
Perfect for a bedside, a morning basket, a post-dinner devotional time and more!

I have loved using this book with my son as we read through the Bible Storybook. I love how both books match perfectly together. We'll read one story and then find the prayer in this book that matches it. I've loved using this every night.
We LOVE the God's Big Promises Bible, a retelling of familiar Bible stories for children highlighting how God makes and keeps his promises. This is a fantastic companion to the Bible, offering a prayer for each story that gets to the heart of what God is teaching us in that passage. There is a Bible quote and a helpful summary with each passage, so it could be used independently of the GBP Bible, but we're enjoying reading the Bible story in its entirety and then praying the prayer in this book as a helpful conclusion for our Bible time. We'd really recommend this!
